A series of paintings in which the use of colour, symbolism and evocative shapes and feelings express my thoughts about the Easter story. In 'Betrayal' the dominant symbol is the cup shape, standing for suffering (Luke 22 v. 42, 44), which also becomes the pathway of the Gethsemane garden. As it encloses the disciples (indicated by eleven rings/halos), it is also an ironic reminder of the intimate fellowship of the last supper. The solid, mine-like circle at the base of the cup is to be understood as Judas leading the soldiers to Jesus (John 18 v. 2-3).
